Theological Definition We all think we know what the definition of love is. In the dictionary it tells us that love is a profoundly, tender, passionate affection for another person. The Bible tells us a different story of what love truly is. There is the love of the Father towards his children, the love that man has for God, the love that man has for other people, and man’s love for things. To me the greatest love that the Bible shows us is the love God shows us every day even though we do not deserve it. He came down and became man, lived a perfect sinless life, and died on the cross for my sins. The greatest thing He did was show me that there is hope for a new life with His resurrection. I feel that when a believer uses their gifts for the wrong reasons they are not reflecting the love of God. These two topics go together any way you look at them. The Holy Spirit gives a spiritual gift to a believer to lift up the body, but if they do not use the gift out of love for the body than it is for the wrong reasons. Not everyone understands their spiritual gift and have a hard time learning how to use it for the edification of the body. We are all given the love of Christ and should not be afraid to show the world this love. As sinful humans we are all prone to being selfish and rude to others, but as a believer we are to be selfless and show the love of God to everyone. We can use the spiritual gifts in the body of Christ to draw the lost into the love of Christ. V.
